FOREIGN OFFICE, S.W.1.
19th July, 1927.
With reference to your letter No.502,276/53 of the
12th instant regarding the supply of opium to various
governments by M.A.Nemazee of Singapore, I am directed by
Secretary Sir Austen Chamberlain to inform you that he
concurs in the suggestion that the French authorities should
be warned regarding M.A.Nemazee's antecedents and that he
agrees that such a arning would probably have greater force
if it were sent direct by the Government of India to the
authorities in Indo-China. I am to suggest, therefore,
that the India Office might be informed accordingly and
requested to take action in the sense suggested in the
second paragraph of the letter under reply.
2. A copy of this correspondence has been sent to the
India Office.
The Under Secretary of State,
Home Office.
I am, etc.,
(Sa.) George Mounsey.
